Senator Ben Bruce's Silverbird Galleria Sealed Off

Ben Murray Bruce
Less than 24 hours after he set the social media agog over his purported presidential handshake snub at the Aso Villa, Abuja, Senator Ben Murray Bruce's Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island, Lagos has been sealed off.

Silverbird Galleria sealed for owing LAWMA service fees
An insider told our correspondent that the bustling entertainment and business complex was sealed off early Tuesday by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, over unpaid service fees.

It was gathered that after many months of notice, the officials of the agency, visited the property and had the main entrance of the galleria on Ahmadu Bello Way locked and post a sealed off notice on the gate. Another gate of the complex on Louis Solomon Street off Ahmadu Bello Way was also locked.

The galleria has three entrances. Aside the cinemas, the facility also house Silverbird TV and Rhythm 93.7FM. While scores of various brands also have their stores in the complex.

The source said the staff and other tenants of the complex had to use the third gate by the generating plants to gain access into the galleria.

The management of Silverbird Group was reported to have used a backdrop to cover the sealed off poster, while hefty-looking security men on duty prevented people from taking photograph of the sealed complex.

We gathered that the sealing of the complex has no political undertone.

Efforts to reach the Galleria management before going to press were abortive.

  1. Those LAWMA guys can't make right decisions. Granted that they already took decision to seal off the Galleria (and deservedly so), they should have been reasonable enough to let the burning politics around the presidential snub passed.
Now, how can anyone plausibly explain that the LAWMA action was not politically motivated? That's why one always warn about exuberance
