Bruce, showbiz mogul and senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District,
on Monday night barred by the operatives of the Department of State Services,
(DSS), from exchanging pleasantries with President Muhammadu Buhari at the
presidential villa.

Bruce, who joined his
colleagues to honour a dinner at the Aso Villa to mark the 2016 Democracy Day, took
to his usual Twitter page to lament the treatment meted out to him by the
operatives.

According to the
'commonsense senator', he had attempted to greet the president as one of
his colleagues just did, but to his shock, the security agent denied him access
to the Nigerian leader.
His tweets: “I was at the
Presidential Villa today. Went to the President’s table. DSS wouldn’t allow me
greet him but let another Senator greet him.”
“My critics say I
shouldn’t criticize the president openly, so I go and meet him one on one and
I’m blocked. Am I not a Nigerian citizen?
“If PMB’s handlers
selectively block access to him, he runs the risk of being surrounded only by
sycophants!
“I have nothing against
the President, however, nobody is too important to be criticized and my mouth
will never be silenced!”
Bruce is known to be very
critical of the current administration, particularly President Buhari.
Few hours before arriving the
villa, Bruce, in his characteristically manner, had lashed out at the presidency
on his Twitter account: “It’s ‘fantastically corrupt’ that Nigeria maintains a
10 plane Presidential fleet whereas the PM of a rich nation like UK flies
commercial!”
Also on Sunday, the
Democracy Day, the senator had alleged that Buhari and his ministers spent the whole of last year giving excuses.

Our national leader, Aare Bola Ahmed Tinubu never boycotted any state function he was invited to while we were in opposition. If truly some exuberant fools embarrassed him (Senator Ben Bruce) in Aso Rock, the authorities should do well by investigating the authenticity of the claim and punish the goons who did that to a Senator of the federal Republic. The fact that Buhari was boycotting state functions while he was in the opposition does not mean he was right. Indeed, it was the reason why some of us in APC vehemently opposed his choice as our party candidate during the primaries prior to 2015 general elections. Nigeria needs a leadership that is tolerant not arrogant Napoleons who think they are superior to others in our Animal Farm. We (APC) are in control of the centre, I definitely know we'll not be there forever. No true patriot, democrat or progressive politician should pray for that if you truly love your country.
A mautured and tolerant leadership (Buhari and APC) should institute an inquiry, investigate and punish the buffoons who did it.
@okolibabtunde before u open your mouth to vomit nonsense in public just because u are a loyalist to Bruce, make sure u think with ur common sence first. Ur senator common sence , does not really have the common sense he has always been preaching,. Why will u be approaching table when dinner is being served in an English setting, does he not have sence to know DAT he should wait after d dinner to approach d president? By d way, why was he going to meet d president, after he has lambasted him on his Twitter page, isn't DAT a show of hypocrisy ? And why is he complaining again after being bounced, he should accept it in good faith afterall Buhari is his enemy
