Jamaican legendary reggae musician, Don Carlos, early Monday morning brought to a rousing conclusion the Felabration 2014.
The roots rock reggae star, who was performing in Nigeria for the first time, was this year’s festival special guest artiste.
He stormed the Felabration stage at exactly 12:45 a.m. and got a rousing reception from thousands of fun seekers inside and outside the New Afrika Shrine venue of the annual festival.
He expressed his excitement to be in Nigeria as well as be a part of the celebration of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. “It is an honour to be in Lagos, Nigeria to celebrate Fela, a true African champion and Afrobeat king,” he said excitedly.
Also with Don was reggae star and compatriot from Kingston, Jamaica, Raymond ‘Aima’ Moses. The gangling reggae star opened the gig for legendary Don, who later launched into his repeitore. Backed by Femi Kuti’s Positive Force Band.
For 40 minutes, Don kept the audience on their feet dancing to his roots rock reggae music.
Earlier on, the last day of the week-long festival, the Gangbe Brass Band from Benin Republic opened the concert.
The eight-man band, who mixes traditional Benin idioms and invigorate them with jazz harmonies, performed a number of Afrobeat songs, with Femi Kuti, son of Fela joining them on stage for a short duet.
Their electrifying performance paved way for a torrent of high energy music from various Nigerian artistes including repackaged Styl Plus; Olaitan Adeniji and his Heavywindz Band; Eda O tan Band; Orezi; Isla Kauche (Olumide Bamigboye); Weird MC; Oritsefemi; Harrysong and KCee, who stunned the audience as he gave out $1,500 cash prize to two fun seekers who excelled during a dance competition.

Femi Kuti later capped the night with an electrifying Afrobeat session.
Over 100 established and budding stars performed at the week-long music festival put together to celebrate the life and times of the late Afrobeat maestro, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
It was a mix of thrills and glamour at both the New Afrika Shrine and Freedom Park, another venue of the event in Lagos.
Mohammed Fawehinmi, son of the late legal luminary, Gani, was one of the dignitaries at the event and expressed satisfaction at the festival.
