Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of
Rivers State and Minister of Transport, has refuted
reports that he stormed out of any radio station during a live interview.
Fielding questions
from the anchors of Channels TV’s Sunrise anchors, Mr. Amaechi noted that it
was not true and he would do no such thing.
Amaechi had
reportedly stormed out of a Port Harcourt 95.1fm angrily left the radio station
when the presenter asked him a question if he would advocate for the
resignation of President Buhari for failure to tackle the security problems
just as he was asking Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike to resign.
Amaechi who said
it was outrageous used the the programme to clear the air on a number of issues
including the fact that violence in Rivers has been orchestrated by Wike
because he had befriended all the former militants.
He noted that a
known militant Ateke Tom was now his Special Assistant while a Chairman of a
local government, who was granted amnesty is hiding in the Government House
after arms were found in his house.
Amaechi said he
was willing to meet with Wike at anytime if that will lead to an end of
violence in the state. He said he does not believe that cultists were
responsible for the spate of killings of APC members in the state, urging the
security authorities to be more diligent in their investigation.
