Richard Mofe-Damijo is in the running with his role in AY’s 30 Days in Atlanta, alongside Segun Arinze (A Place In The Stars), Yemi Black (Iyore), Blossom Chukwujekwu (Knocking On Heaven’s Door) and OC Ukeje (When Love Happens) for Africa’s Best Supporting Actor.

Agreeably, these five men, a mix of veterans and rookies in the African movie industry- are on top and deserve to win this category. However, only one person will be Africa’s best supporting actor.
The Best Supporting Actor category this year is being sponsored by Verve International as part of its ongoing ‘Uniquely African and Proudly Nigerian’ campaign celebrating Nigeria and the African continent.
Also in support of the industry, Amstel Malta, the lead sponsor of the award, will be rewarding four award winners at the AMVCA with a million naira cash prize each. They are Best Male in a drama, Best Female in a drama, Best Movie-Drama and Overall Best Movie (Movie of the year).
Industry watchers posit that in two years, the reverberation of integrity and respect for the choices and decisions from the stable of the awards has improved, kicked off, endorsed and amplified a lot of careers.
Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, Regional Manager, M-Net (West) amplifies that and described the award as an emerging reference point for the celebration of the best talents out of Africa.
“It is the third year and we have a good pool of movies and the talents are a mix of the new and the veteran actors. We couldn’t ask for a better way to showcase what the best of Africa and the entertainment industry is about,” said Mba-Uzoukwu.
