Five Directors To Look Out For in 2015

Clarence Peters

Clarence Peters
He’s outdone himself time and again so much that he’s been seen as a trailblazer in some sectors and as a standard bearer in many. His contemporaries see him as one to lead the pack and that’s why he makes the list of those to watch out for this year.
Mattmax
Mattmax
With a ground breaking announcement on the scene with Olamide’s Voice Of The Streets, Mattmax set a very high standard not just for many directors, but himself. Comparing Lace’s Gbabe and Olamide’s Voice Of The Streets, one will doubt if both videos were made by the same director. The release of Mavins’ stunning video for Adaobi showed again that Mattmax would up his ante in 2015.
Jassy on location
.Jassy Generation
Jassy might not appear to have the aura of a super director but his knack for story telling as seen in HKN GANGMATE’S King Special’s Money video and documentary style of making his videos as shown in Reminisce’s Turn It Around video, makes him one to watch out for.
Unlimited LA
Unlimited LA
Olalekan Unlimited LA was one of the busiest video directors in 2014 as underscored by his unique picture feel, editing style and consistency.
Since outdoing himself seems like his watchword as was the case in Timaya’s Bow Down, Sean Tizzle’s Loke Loke and Olamide’s Goons Mi, all three videos with different concepts, these things put together make Unlimited one to watch out for in 2015.
Patrick Elis
Patrick Elis
In 2015, we will also have to keep an  eye on Patrick Elis, the king of simple shoots and crisp editing. The video for Obimo by Kay Switch and D’banj attests to this. The well documented life in the ghetto as depicted in Ghetto Remix by Shank, Davido, Seun Kuti, Vector and Kay Switch shows how deep a director Mr. Patrick can be but seeing Wizkid’s Bombay video, you’ll question Elis’ creativity. Let’s see if he’ll be able to fix his inconsistencies this year.
Aje
Aje Films
Aje is a name not too common on the screen but he’s prowess is evident as seen in Oluchi, by Solid Star and Flavour. He’s also the brain behind most of Rayce’s videos from Jack Sparrow to Just Like That, to mention a few, with the latter being nominated for the video of the year award in the 2014 Headies. He’s constantly kept the pace in the industry and hoping Aje Films will grace TVscreens even more in 2015 is why he makes this list.
