The entry submission for
the 2015 All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, will close Friday 31 July.
This was announced by the
International Committee of AFRIMA, rising out of their meeting in Casablanca,
Morocco recently. The entry submission deadline was initially set for 20 July.
The International
Committee arrived at this decision to offer an opportunity for a more inclusive
participation for artistes, music producers, songwriters, music video directors
or other eligible music professionals of African origin.
AFRIMA opened the 2015
entry submission on 18 May receiving a deluge of submissions in the opening
month alone. The awards project embarked on a continental campaign to sensitise
artistes about the 2015 awards programme of events which included stakeholders
conferences in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (29 April), Kampala, Uganda ( 19 May),
Johannesburg, South Africa (10 July) and Casablanca, Morocco (23 July).
As the host country,
Nigeria also hosted AFRIMA on 1 July at the “Industry Nite” in Lagos, a high
profile event that showcases the best of Nigerian music entertainment and
provides a platform for music industry networking.
Other events for the 2015
main awards ceremony which holds on Saturday, 15 November include the two-day
AFRIMA Music Village holding on 13 and 14 November and the Africa Music Summit,
