•Nigerian artistes in star movie App |
In
just two months after its release, the new version of Star Music App
has beaten even the most optimistic expectations to pioneer the concept
of a successful Nigerian mobile music platform.
Powered
by Star Lager as part of a drive to engage consumers by supporting
their passions and love for music, the app incorporates Nigerian content
streaming, bulk downloads, feature articles, charts, curated playlists,
and news into a single entertainment package.
Originally
launched two years ago by Nigerian Breweries plc to connect with the
Nigerian music fan and change the way consumers experience music online,
the newly built 2015 version comes with several improvements in
concept, interface design, content and general user experience.
With
exclusive content sourced from partnerships with labels like Chocolate
City and others, entertainment platforms thenet.ng, notjustok.com and a
dedicated content team, the Android app, which is also available on all
devices in form of a mobile site, now has more than 30,000 registered
users. It has also been able to log over 276,000 song plays and
downloads in addition to over 726,000 screen views in just over six
weeks.
Particularly
noteworthy is the Indestructible Choc Boi Nation album featuring M.I
Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, Nosa, Ruby Gyang and others, which was
the first project, released exclusively on Star Music App. The
singles Suite 99 and Summertime alone have collectively logged over
10,000 streams and the album continues to generate hundreds of hours of
play every day.
Interestingly, the Star Music App is
not only successful in Nigeria but also as far afield as East Africa, UK
and Asia. Kenyan users for example make up nearly 8 per cent of the
registered users on the app, while others account for about 15 per cent.
The platform has achieved significant success in its drive to define
the next phase in Nigerian music marketing while also providing an
opportunity for upcoming acts and emerging stars to shine and connect
with their core fans.
Star Music App has built a user
base that is overwhelmingly mobile (85 per cent) and judging by the
popularity of the #StarMusicApp hashtag, which has generated over 53
million social media impressions till date, the platform is well on its
way to becoming Nigeria’s biggest music platform as well as a
continental trailblazer.
With hundreds of songs being
released monthly by Nigerian musicians, Star Music App is fast becoming a
taste leader for several thousands of young people looking to have fun
and catch up with what’s new, cool and trending in music.
